Weekend’s activities – DIY Marble Board
In this weekend I managed to get done some of the things I postponed for a while. I’m referring to a DIY Marble Board, for my blog pictures. I need this board in order to get those bright and clean beauty products photos & I’ve started searching the Internet for some materials I could use. I must say that reading lots of photography tips for bloggers helped me so much to find out what I need in order to create those Pinterest images we bloggers crave for.
So I went to Dedeman to buy some self-adhesive film and plexiglass. After I found what I’ve been looking for, and for a good price, I went to JYSK store to buy white canvas, to help me get rid of shadows during the shooting process. I read that using white or bright surfaces could improve the visual quality of the photos if the natural light isn’t that good. This is where white canvas could make their work. The price for them at JYSK store it’s very friendly, like 20-25 lei each, depending on how big they are.
When I arrived home, I started watching some videos on Youtube to better understand how to apply that self-adhesive film on the piece of plexiglass. First I wiped up the surface with a clean dry towel. After, I asked my boyfriend to slowly remove the protective film, while I was pressing with that towel on the board, back and forth, to prevent small bumps or air bubbles to form underneath. And finally, we finished by cutting the excess all around the plexiglass, using a razor. It’s a simple process and it can be done in no more than 10 minutes. Now I have my own DIY Marble Board and I’m using it to make my photos more attractive.
Improving my photography skills
Another activity in this weekend was to read more about my Nikon D5300 DSLR settings. I received this camera last year, for my birthday & it was the most amazing gift. Since then, I tried so much to discover and learn more about how to use it, I even took a photography course. But because I also have a full-time job, only in weekends I manage to have time for this kind of things. Pretty frustrating, I know.
So I started using more my Nikon D5300 DSLR & downloaded the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 free trial. Now I’m learning how to properly use it to get that gloomy beautiful effect. I love to play around with different settings and see what works best for my photo. In Photoshop you can adjust a lot of things, like exposure, clarity, highlights, shadows, sharpening, even the white balance.
My first thought was by no means I’m gonna succeed learning it, but there are SO MANY tutorials on Youtube, you just need to take your time, watch as many as you can and then go play with all those settings. You’ll figure out on the road what you like the most like I’m doing now. Actually, these are my very first photos ever edited with Photoshop!
